Progress Updates - June 2024
Book Donation: We received a very generous donation of six boxes of books for our potential Chesterton Academy. The gift came from a lover of books who supports classical Catholic education. She heard about our efforts to start a Chesterton Academy and graciously offered us these books.
Business Plan: A subcommittee is continuing to work on a narrative business plan that can will be used to communicate our vision to prospective families and potential donors.
By-Laws: A subcommittee is currently evaluating how the Chesterton Academy structure could be integrated into the existing St. Michael School structure.
Informational Meetings: The board is hoping to begin offering a series of informational meetings in the Fall. The intent of these meetings will be to provide more information to the parish about the Chesterton Academy model, identify families of prospective students, as well as to share our vision with potential donors.
Website: In anticipation of the informational meetings, the board has decided to develop a simple website using the Chesterton Schools Network’s template so people can get more information about the Chesterton Academy model.
Chesterton Book Study: The members of our committee enjoyed their first discussion of Common Sense 101: Lessons from G.K. Chesterton by Dale Ahlquist. We will be discussing chapters 5-at the next meeting. We encourage others to join us in this reading as we become better acquainted with the life and writings of G.K. Chesterton.
