Progress Updates - May 2024
As we have been exploring the possibility of expanding our existing school to incorporate a Chesterton Academy High School, we have been providing periodic updates on our progress to those who have expressed interest. The following updates are what our team was working on in the month of May:
Chesterton Book Study: The members of our Board will be reading and discussing Common Sense 101: Lessons from G.K. Chesterton by Dale Ahlquist. Chapters 1-4 will be discussed at the May meeting. We encourage others to join us in this reading as we become better acquainted with the life and writings of G.K. Chesterton.\
Board of Directors: At its last meeting, the Board officially elected the following officers:
Chair: Rob Spicer
Vice Chair: Walt Streacker
Secretary: Grace Niese
Treasurer: Dow Campbell
Charter Expansion: We have filed the necessary paperwork with the State of Ohio to expand our existing school charter to include grades 9-12.
Holy Family Radio Interview: Rob Spicer appeared on Holy Family Radio's Spring Spirit Drive (94.9FM Ada/LIMA | 88.9FM Glandorf). He discussed the Chesterton Schools Network and our hope of starting a Chesterton Academy at St. Michael the Archangel. A video of the interview is posted below. Special thanks to Kevin Deitering and Deacon Jeff Compton for arranging the interview.
Marathon's Giving Match: Board member, Mike Gray, is working on a certification letter for MPC and St. Michael's to help St. Michael's parishioners be able to confidently and conscientiously match their St. Michael's donations.
Business Plan: A subcommittee has been formed to develop a narrative business plan that can be shared with prospective families and potential donors.
By-Laws: A subcommittee is being developed to evaluate the existing St. Michael School Constitution and By-laws, and how best to incorporate the Chesterton Academy.
